The history of Pakco in South Africa

Pakco is a South African food manufacturing company established in 1948 by Pakkiri Pillay. Initially focusing on Indian pickles, Pakco has expanded its product range to include spices, condiments, instant meals, and desserts. The company operates four major manufacturing facilities in Durban, producing a diverse portfolio of products under brands such as Bisto, Hinds, Buffalo, Southern Coating, Trotters, Gold Dish, and Pakco. Pakco's products are sold by all major retailers and wholesalers in the domestic market and exported to eight neighboring African countries.

In 2017, Pakco was acquired by RFG Foods for R200 million, enabling RFG Foods to enter the dry-packed foods market and expand its product offerings.
